Katherine R Smith Elementary School
is a very low income school located near Eastridge Mall. I have been volunteering there in the first and second grade combo class so I have come to know many of the children. This school is dedicated to providing an environment in which the students can learn and consider themselves college bound. The dedicated faculty and staff of this school are doing everything they can to change the cycle of generational poverty.
Most of the students are on the lunch program. The staff and faculty noticed that students were in need of clothing and shoes for school. They were able to dedicate a room at school as The Wardrobe. The Wardrobe is a store in which children can receive new and gently used clothing suitable for school at no cost.
I believe that everyone needs A New Pair of Shoes. I am asking for donations of new school shoes in sizes juvenile size 11 to adult size 8. The school policy dictates the shoes have closed toes. And please no red or blue (stripe okay or a small design), as these are gang colors. I will be collecting between April 5 to April 19. If you prefer you can donate gift cards from Payless Shoes. Donations can be left at here at New Creation Church 7275 Santa Teresa Blvd. Of course, I am thrilled to pick up donations if that is easier for you. If you would prefer to make a financial donation here at church, you may make your checks out to NCLC with The Wardrobe in the memo line.
