The song “God Loves” is a favorite of our band, Daily Bread, as well as a big hit with the congregation. It was written by our own Colby Pollard, a member of Daily Bread and Creative Consultant for the NCLC music and worship team. This song can be found on Daily Bread’s debut album, “Daily Bread,” released in August of 2022.
“God Loves” by C. Pollard and P. Westeberg is a gentle and reassuring reminder of God’s unconditional love. The lyrics emphasize that God’s love is not dependent on religious rituals, specific prayers, or outward expressions of worship. Instead, it is a love that is always present, accessible, and personal.
Key Themes:
- Unconditional Love: The song repeats the message that God’s love is not based on anything we do; it is simply given because God loves us for who we are.
- Personal Connection: It highlights the idea that God’s love is intimate and personal, addressing the listener directly and offering comfort in times of sadness or loneliness.
- Comfort and Reassurance: The lyrics provide solace, especially to those who are grieving or feeling alone, by reminding them that God is always there, holding them close.
- Simplicity of Faith: The song moves away from the complexities of religious practice, focusing instead on the simple truth of God’s love, making it relatable and accessible to everyone.
Usage in Worship:
“God Loves” is particularly powerful in services focused on themes of God’s love, comfort during times of grief, or reassurance of God’s presence in our daily lives. It could serve as a comforting anthem during moments of reflection or as an assurance of God’s enduring love during difficult times.
