Pastor Anne has called us to a time of prayer and fasting. The words of God through Isaiah that she shared with us last week are the words of my deepest heart for God’s call to us at New Creation.
A guiding scripture for my life has been Matthew 25:35-40. The disciples ask, “Lord, when did we see you?” Jesus goes on to explain that each time they gave the thirsty something to drink, or clothes to someone in need, fed the hungry, visited the sick, or remembered the prisoner, they were doing the same for Jesus. Jesus closes this conversation by saying, whatever you do for the least of them, you do also for me.
How closely Jesus’ teaching matches the words of God as spoken by Isaiah. Our fasting is to be one of action, caring, kindness, and compassion.
I’m joining Pastor Anne in her call for a month of prayer and fasting. New Creation has much to offer those who have less; peace, friendship, prayer, hope, and healing. I implore you to join in this time as well, seeking once again to know of God’s intent for this community, our ministry.
Together, let us set our minds, spirits, and hearts on the divine. God has blessed New Creation beyond measure; we have much to be grateful for in these blessings. God’s promise through Isaiah is that as New Creation cares for the community, we will continue to marvel at what God will do in the life of New Creation and each of us as individuals. God also promises, that when we pray, God will answer!!!
Please join together to make “God’s Love Known To All” our aim.
Amen.
